Jennylyn Mercado shares why she took a break from music
Jennylyn Mercado may be known as a top actress, but it would be hard to forget her music.
Armed with a guitar in her early days on "StarStruck," Jennylyn has a soothing voice fit for OPM love songs that remains memorable to this day. And who can forget her hit single, "Kahit Sandali?"
It's been years since Jennylyn released an album, but the Ultimate Star is back with "Jen Deluxe," her latest compilation under Star Music, coming out tomorrow, August 21.
At the press launch of "Jen Deluxe," GMA News Online asked Jennylyn what made her return to music.
"Music is part of my life ever since I was a kid, until I grew up, until now that I'm older. I think I will never forget music," she said in Filipino.
Jennylyn said she never left the music industry, but has only taken a break from it because of her commitment to other projects like series and films.
The actress and singer also prioritized her family.
"Of course, we got a new member of our family, Dylan. So while she's young, I said I want to focus on the family. Kids grow up so fast, so I want to focus on her while she's still small," she said.
"And music, anytime, is just there. Same as acting, I can go back to recording. But family, the moment that you will miss with your family, you can never get that back."
Jennylyn also shared that there is a lot of inspiration behind her album, such as her Mommy Lydia and her husband Dennis Trillo.
"I want people to feel that... because music, when they hear it, their memories will come back. Like, this is me before or this is happening to me now. So it's a great feeling that people relate to my music," she said.
