Survey reveals 2 out of 5 Filipinos are looking for a 'holidate,' and here's why
Are you one of those people who are looking for a "holidate?"
According to the latest Bumble study by YouGov Singapore, two out of five Filipinos are "looking for someone to spend the Holidays with."
As shown in the survey, there are three leading reasons why Filipinos are eager to look for a "holidate," and the first one is to have someone to bring to family get-togethers.
In a Filipino household culture, the leading question to single family members during reunions is "Wala ka pa rin jowa?" and 27% of the people on the survey have this motive in looking for a "holidate."
When asked why they would be willing to bring a date to a family gathering, Filipinos cite family pressure (23%) and being the only single attending the gathering (23%) as their top reasons.
Meanwhile, 12% would get in a relationship during the Christmas season for gifts, and 11% expressed their desire to have a partner due to family pressure.
According to Bumble APAC Communications Director Lucille McCart, while looking for love can be stressful during the Holidays with increased social and cultural pressure, most Filipinos still want "to make connections in the coming months."
"The good news is that Filipinos still love [to] love. With so many people open to meeting someone, we are bound to see many Bumble success stories born from this 'holi-dating' season," she added.
