Drew Arellano says ‘Biyahe Ni Drew’ is his me time away from family
Drew Arellano said being a parent should not take away someone’s “me time.”
In the recent episode of “Surprise Guest with Pia Arcangel,” Drew said his long-standing GMA travel series “Biyahe Ni Drew” is his version of a break from his family.
“I think it’s very important to have me time lalo na when you have a lot of kids,” Drew said. “And I think ‘yung me time ko would be ‘Biyahe Ni Drew.’”
According to the Kapuso host, he and his wife, Iya Villania, have always been vocal about having time for themselves because it’s part of keeping their marriage healthy.
“Si Iya rin, she will go somewhere, she will do something alone because syempre nga as a parent we also need that so that we can also have, I guess, a better time with their kids,” he added.
Drew said having time for himself ultimately helps ease stress and keep a calm demeanor when coming home to his wife and four kids.
“So when you come home [from a me time], you’ll be like, ‘oh, I'm excited to see them again,’ so I think it helps me [to] balance things [out],” he said.
In the same podcast episode, Drew revealed that he and Iya really prayed to have a daughter, so when Alana came into their lives during the pandemic, they considered it a huge blessing.
Iya and Drew have been married since 2014, and they have four kids, Primo, Leon, Alana, and Astro.
