Martin Del Rosario's father undergoes quintuple bypass, actor calls for blood donations

Martin Del Rosario is calling for blood donations for his father, who has undergone a quintuple heart bypass.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda" on Tuesday, the Kapuso actor said his dad is currently in the intensive care unit (ICU) after the procedure, which restores blood flow to the heart after blockages.

Martin said they need a total of 16 bags of blood for him. They had gotten six bags of blood already, so they are in need of 10 more.

"Nanghiram lang kami ng blood sa Heart Center," Martin said.

The actor said that those interested in donating blood may do so at the Philippine Heart Center after a screening.

"Sobrang malaking tulong na 'yun for us, 'yung maka-donate kayo ng blood," he said.

Martin also thanked the doctors for saving his father's life.

"Kasi fatal 'yun eh, 'yung limang bara. Usually, 'yung tatlo lang is nakakamatay," he said.

Those who wish to donate blood must pass eligibility requirements to ensure the safety of the blood supply.

Donors would be screened based on their medical history, vaccinations, surgeries, travel history, and body modifications like tattoos and piercings, among others. —Nika Roque/MGP, GMA News
