Kris Aquino remembers mom Cory on 17th death anniversary: 'Please continue looking after your baby'
Kris Aquino took to social media to remember her late mother, the former President Cory Aquino, on her death anniversary.
On Instagram, the Queen of All Media looked back on her mother's passing 17 years ago, saying that while their family had accepted her death after witnessing her suffering, losing her is not something they could ever truly get over.
"Can someone you cherished ever be forgotten?" she wrote. "Until now, when I watch families in conflict, I say, 'Sorry mom, you never deserved any of that.'"
Kris also shared how she spent the anniversary with her sons, Josh and Bimby, with the latter coming home earlier than usual to look after her as she underwent another treatment.
"I have never given details about the treatments that failed," she said. "I promised my sons I was going to fight until the end."
She then recalled an emotional moment with Josh, who comforted her after finding her in tears following several sleepless nights.
"No child, especially one raised by a single parent, should ever see the pain their mama or papa goes through because to worry is ours and not theirs," she said.
Kris shared that her next infusion is scheduled for August 5 and ended her post by asking her late mother to continue watching over her.
"Mom, please continue looking after your baby?" she said. "Because I have 6'3 & 6'2 giant babies who pray every day and believe that God does answer prayers."
Cory passed away in August 2009.
In June, Kris also commemorated the fifth death anniversary of her brother, former President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III.
Kris has been battling nine autoimmune conditions. She left for the United States in 2022 to seek treatment and returned to the Philippines in 2024.
