Jennylyn Mercado celebrates son Jazz's 18th birthday with simple family gathering

Jennylyn Mercado marked her son Alex Jazz’s 18th birthday with an intimate and simple celebration centered on his favorite food spots.

According to Nelson Canlas’ report in “24 Oras” on Friday, the Ultimate Star said they had a simple lunch at Jazz’s favorite restaurant before having dessert at his favorite dessert place.

“We just had a simple lunch at Kuya Jazz’s favorite restaurant. Then we went to his favorite dessert place afterward. He was so happy. It was really simple,” she said in Filipino.

For Jennylyn, the celebration was made more meaningful by seeing how well her three children are growing up.

She said she and her husband, actor Dennis Trillo, have also learned to appreciate the simple joys of family life.

As Jazz officially enters adulthood, Jennylyn admits she still sees him as her baby.

“Jazz will forever be my baby. He’s always been very sweet, and that hasn’t changed. He’s still the same little Jazz that I’ve always known. He’s very affectionate—he’s just much bigger now, but he’s still so loving. He’s such a good boy,” she said.

Meanwhile, Jennylyn also opened up about her music comeback with a newly launched album.

The actress and singer said she had missed making music and that her perspective on love has evolved as she matured as a wife and mother.

According to Jennylyn, music allows her to express different stories about love.

In the report, Jennylyn said one of the things that continues to make her happy is seeing her children grow into smart, kind, God-fearing, and respectful individuals.

“It’s also heartwarming to see your children grow up to be smart, kind, God-fearing, and respectful,” she said.

And despite being together for years, Jennylyn said Dennis continues to give her butterflies.

“Nakakakilig din kahit na matagal na kaming magkasama ni Dennis. Araw-araw pa rin niya akong pinapakilig,” she added.

Jennylyn and Dennis got married in 2021 and welcomed their daughter, Dylan, the following year.

They each have a son from previous relationships; Alex Jazz is Jennylyn's son with actor Patrick Garcia, while Calix is Dennis' son with Carlene Aguilar.

Jennylyn earlier opened up about her frozen embryo, which can be implanted should she and Dennis have another child together.
