Healthy and plant-based meals go mainstream in 2022
Filipinos have become increasingly conscious of the food they consume since the onset of the pandemic in 2020.
According to Grab's "PH Food & Grocery Trends 2022," with data collected from January to September 2022 across Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, about one in two surveyed Southeast Asian consumers tried plant-based options in the last six months.
The study further revealed that "86% of consumers ate at least one healthy meal every two to three days," and the demand for healthy meals tripled on GrabFood between 2019 and 2022.

The demand for healthy and plant-based alternatives in GrabFood was also seen on GrabMart, with "health and wellness" orders growing five times between 2020 and 2022.
Meanwhile, the Grab-powered study named fried chicken as the most-ordered food on its app for 2022, followed by burgers, pasta, and ice cream, among others.
