Laufey tries isaw, sisig, other Filipino dishes at Chef JP Anglo's Makati restaurant
Laufey got a taste of Filipino food and hospitality during her latest visit to the Philippines in May.
In a YouTube vlog, Chef JP Anglo shared that he hosted the Icelandic-Chinese singer for a sumptuous dinner at Sarsa Kitchen + Bar, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant in Makati.
The menu featured Filipino dishes, including kinilaw, chicharron, grilled pork belly (barbecue), chicken intestine (isaw), lumpia, beef kaldereta, crab tortang talong, pork sisig, and halo-halo.
During the feast, Laufey shared her reactions to the dishes, with the barbecue and sisig emerging as two of her favorites.
“The smoky taste is so good,” she said of barbecue.
Laufey also talked about an Icelandic classic called svið, which she said reminded her of sisig.
“In Iceland, we eat every single part of the sheep, and I have eaten every part of the sheep,” she said.
“This is very fun because in Iceland we have this thing called svid, which is the head of sheep,” she added.
Laufey held three sold-out shows at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City in May.
On the second night of her “A Matter of Time” concert on May 28, Laufey performed with BINI. They performed the jazz-pop singer's hit song, "From the Start."
The singer's concert tour is in support of her newest album, “A Matter of Time.”
She is best known for the songs “Let You Break My Heart Again” and “Valentine.”
