Alex Eala, Iva Jovic try Filipino snacks

Alex Eala and Iva Jovic tried out some Filipino snacks!

In an Instagram video posted by the US Open, Alex was surprised to be given the sweet treats.

The two tennis athletes first tried out Flat Tops, which Iva said was "good chocolate."

They then tried out ube-flavored otap, which Alex described as "hella Filipino."

"It's purple yam and it's native to the Philippines," Alex said before they took a bite.

Iva of the United States is one of Alex's closest friends on tour, along with Turkiye's Zeynep Sonmez and Germany's Eva Lys.

Alex is set to face Belinda Bencic next in the Round of 16 of the National Bank Open in Toronto following her win against Caty McNally in the Round of 32.

She will also team up with tennis icon Venus Williams in the doubles draw on Thursday (Friday, Philippine time).

The athlete was honored by the Senate for her victory in the 2026 Mubadala DC Open, first her WTA title and the first tour-level singles title by a Filipino player.
