How this Manila barangay has remained COVID-free
Early in the pandemic period, the City of Manila reported more than 24,000 COVID-19 cases.
These days, there are less than 500 positive cases in the city.
An episode of Pinoy MD said that there are 73 barangays in Manila that received P100,000 from their local government units for remaining COVID-free from September 1 until October 31.
Among those areas is Barangay 716.
According to Kagawad Angelito Bagus, Barangay 716 is the only barangay in Zone 78 that has not reported a single case of COVID-19.
"Sa simula ng lockdown, sinunod ng mga constituent at opisyal ng barangay para maiwasan ang virus. Lahat ng kagawad ay nag-24 hours duty para ma-maintain ang distancing at ang mga constituents, sumusunod naman sila," he said.
Since the situation in Manila City is slowly getting better, the Manila City LGU is slowly allowing outdoor activities in Manila including jogging, biking, and walking by the bay all while still practicing the safety protocols.
A spa in Barangay 716 has also opened its doors to customers for massage services.
The Philippine tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases approached 430,000 as the Department of Health (DOH) reported over 2,000 more cases on Sunday.
A total of 2,076 cases were added to bring the total tally to 429,864, including 8,373 deaths and 398,624 recoveries. —Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/LA, GMA News
