Chynna Ortaleza says her mental health issues contributed to her weight loss

Chynna Ortaleza addressed her recent weight loss and the health struggles she has been facing the past few years.

Last week, Chynna shared on Instagram a "most honest selfie" of herself, saying that she went from 109 to 86 pounds even without diet and exercise.

In Cata Tibayan's report on "24 Oras," Monday, Chynna said that apart from her food intolerance, her mental health issues worsened her gut problems, which caused a drastic drop in her weight.

"When you get sick, you have to get into the root cause of it, you know why you're treating it and it's not just the symptom you're treating," she said.

"You need to know why it's happening and usually, it's functional or mental. In my case, it's both," she continued.

According to Chynna, she's been suffering mentally because of her dad's passing in 2019.

"I didn't give myself time to grieve in all honesty about my papa so after that, I became a mom again and faced different adjustments since, now, I have two kids," she said in Filipino.

"Apart from that, the pandemic happened, so I had to process a lot of things," she added.

Chynna said she also took a food intolerance test and figured out that food such as cheese, dairy, eggs, and gluten aren't good for her.

"I had to take out everything that I loved. I had to restart everything," she said.

In February, Chynna also said how commenting on another person's body can leave painful scars, whether it was intentional or not.
