Rabiya Mateo reveals why she doesn't show her hands that much in photos

Did you know that Rabiya Mateo has a swan-neck deformity in her fingers?

During her morning queen-tuhan with "Unang Hirit," the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 titleholder opened up about how she used to be insecure about her finger being bent in an unusual position.

"Hindi talaga siya straight!" Rabiya said.

"So I'm having trouble minsan sa mga beauty shots na kailangan ang kamay kasi ang tigas-tigas niya. Hindi siya nakakaganda!" she added.

According to WebMD, swan-neck deformity "is when the joint closest to the end of your finger pulls the fingertip downward. At the same time, the middle joint dips down to resemble a bird’s long neck."

The MSD Manuals meanwhile say rheumatoid arthritis, an autoimmune disease, is the common cause of the swan-neck deformity.

In any case, during the interview, Rabiya also got candid about her silliest moments during her pageant journey, including a hilarious incident at the  Miss Universe Philippines coronation night last week where she slipped and fell on stage during the live broadcast.

She was able to shake it off very easily, especially since her best friend and fellow beauty queen MJ Lastimosa was there in the audience.

"Aminado ko talaga, lampa po talaga ako," Rabiya said.

"So, during that time, natapakan ko 'yung gown ko, tapos dumire-diretso ako, and that time, si MJ Lastimosa, she was sitting in front so dun sa may stand kung san ako nadapa and i heart her saying 'oh-oh-oh!”

Rabiya also said the "beauty-fall" moment was nothing new since she was always known to be very clumsy.

"It happens all the time talaga," Rabiya said.

"Kasi, for me, it's not a big deal kasi, minsan nga, kahit naka-tsinelas ako, nadadapa ako!"
