Luis Manzano undergoes biopsy after discovering head lump

Luis Manzano has undergone a biopsy after discovering a lump in his head.

On his YouTube vlog, the TV host and actor said that he decided to consult a specialist and undergo a series of tests that includes biopsy to find out if the said lump is malignant or benign.

Parang ang biopsy kung 'di ako nagkakamali ay i-check kung cancerous or not or kung malignant or benign," he said on his latest vlog.

At first, Manzano thought that the lump in his head was a mole.

"Akala ko dati pa, nunal. Kaya niloloko ko 'yong mga tao na matalino ako, may nunal ako dito [sa ulo]," he said.

Manzano then shared that his stylist noticed that his "mole" had gone bigger, and he suspected that it might lead to a skin cancer called melanoma. He then went to a dermatologist who said that the mole "seems OK" but suggested having it checked by a surgeon. Upon checking the surgeon recommended a biopsy.

Kasi, if sabihin mo bigla na may kailangan kang i-biopsy, kahit sabihin mo na precautionary lang, kahit sabihin mo just to be sure, parang puwedeng cancer comes to mind o ano man," he said.

And you see na it's very life-changing para sa kanila. So, even if nandoon 'yung reassurance pa rin na sinasabi nila na wala 'yan, precautionary 'yan, pero the fact lang na may .000001," Manzano added.

Luis also did not inform his mother, Vilma Santos, that he needed to undergo a biopsy because he knew that she would be very worried about him. He said, only his wife Jessy Mendiola and the household help know.

Luis underwent the operation alone where this lump was removed from his head for examination, and revealed that he was a bit scared about the test results.

"Do I feel OK? Yes.

After a week, the results of the biopsy came out and the doctor told him that it looked OK but that he still needed an additional blood test (immunohistochemistry).

The result revealed that the lump is benign which means that he is clear of cancer.

Luis has been married to Jessy since 2021. They tied the knot once again in February 2024.

He is set to appear with mom Vilma and half brother Ryan Christian Recto in the first episode of Boy Abunda's TV special, "My Mother, My Story," that will be aired on Mother's Day, May 12.
