Boobay says condition not life-threatening, now taking medication twice a day

Boobay gave a brief but reassuring update on his health, clarifying his condition and sharing how it has affected his work routine.

On Thursday’s “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the comedian looked back at his performance with Tekla in Occidental Mindoro in January, where he fainted on stage.

“Sinalo niya ako agad, Tito Boy. Nung nangyari ‘yun, doon naman ako bumilib kay Tekla. Sinalo niya ako agad-agad,” Boobay said.

When asked about his current condition, Boobay said he is OK.

“Para lang siyang, ano, mayroong talagang, ano, panghabang-buhay na ano talaga,” he said. “Hindi siya life-threatening. Basta ang ano sa akin ng doktor ko, before ka sumampa nyan, don't forget to take your medicines. Dati, isang beses lang per day. Ngayon, twice a day na. At the same time, do away from masyadong strong na ilaw kasi ‘yun ‘yung nati-trigger madalas.”

In January, Boobay fainted on stage mid-performance during the Basudani Festival Variety Show. He was immediately assisted by the medical team and received care.

In a "24 Oras" interview with Nelson Canlas last week, Boobay said that his condition, called absence seizure, is now under control through proper medication and regular check-ups.

“Okay naman na, okay na. Siguro nagpasaway na naman ako at that time talaga. Tumuhog na naman ako,” he said.

Boobay and Tekla are hosts of “The Boobay and Tekla Show,” and they are set to roll out “TBATS on the Go” on March 1.
