100 moms in Cebu receive free medical services from GMA Kapuso Foundation for Mother's Day

A total of 100 mothers in Talisay, Cebu received free medical services from GMA Kapuso Foundation in celebration of Mother's Day.

According to "24 Oras" Tuesday, Sitio Isla Verde in Barangay San Isidro was among the hardest hit areas during Typhoon Tino last November. At the time, GMA Kapuso Foundation brought relief goods to those affected through its Operation Bayanihan project.

Six months after the onslaught of Tino, some residents in Talisay still do not have shelters, including Jenna May Erajo, who has been staying with her parents since they lost their home.

Per the report, she cleans other people's homes to help her husband, who earns minimum wage.

"Sa evacuation, November to December kami. Sa ngayon, ang hirap ng buhay talaga lalo na minimum lang po ang sahod ng asawa ko, " she said

Jenna was among the 100 mothers who received free breast examinations and visual inspection with acetic acid (VIA) through the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation.

"First, we can see kung normal 'yung cervix. Second, we can see if there is infection or cervicitis, if there is cancer or precancerous lesions," explained Dr. Patricia Ann S. Coronel, chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue.

The mothers also received hygiene kits and food from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

Previously, it was reported that the foundation also offered free medical services to 300 mothers in Rosario, Cavite for Mother's Day.
