'Trese' Vol. 1 sells out in US ahead of Netflix anime's debut —report
"Trese" has apparently gained quite a lot of fans overseas.
According to Bleedingcool, Ablaze Publishing reported that Volume 1 of the Filipino graphic novel series "Murder on Balete Drive TP" was sold out and has gone back to press for its second printing.
The report came out on June 10, just a day before Netflix released the six-episode animated series based on the graphic novel of the same name.
"Trese," follows a mysterious detective named Alexandra Trese who deals with crimes of supernatural origins.
The graphic novel created by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo showcases the rich lore of Philippine horror mythology.
"Trese" was first published in the Philippines in 2005 and was later picked up by American publishing company Ablaze for release in US and Canada in June 2020.
The Netflix series premiered on June 11, and it quickly became the No. 1 trending title in the Philippines. It also cracked the Top 10 of Netflix Canada and UAE. —Margaret Claire Layug/JCB, GMA News
