According to Anime News Network, Aniplex just announced that a new television project based on the popular 1994 manga by Nobuhiro Watsuki is in the works at Liden Films.

The production company streamed a cool teaser featuring the iconic "X" mark on Kenshin's cheek.

"Rurouni Kenshin" is set during the Meiji era of Japan and follows the story of a former assassin and now a wandering swordsman named Kenshin Himura.

The beloved anime classic was adapted into  a live-action film released in 2012, followed by sequels "Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Legend Ends" which were released back-to-back two years later.

Warner Bros. rolled out the two final installments of the live-action franchise, "Rurouni Kenshin: The Final" and "Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning" this year.

All five films are available on Netflix.
