'Squid Game' director in talks with Netflix for a possible Season 3 —report

Following the success of "Squid Game," will there be a follow-up?

According to a report on Soompi, director Hwang Dong Hyuk is in talks with Netflix not just for a second season, but also a third.

"I think we’ll be reaching some sort of conclusion [to our discussions] soon," he was quoted as saying. "We know that many people are waiting, so everyone is working hard to prepare for the next season with a positive outlook."

He added that the second season will revolve on Lee Jung Jae's character Seong Gi Hun unraveling the mysteries of the organization behind the deadly games.

"The overarching plotline of Season 2 will be the story of the people that Gi Hun meets and the people he chases after," he said.

Hwang Dong Hyuk had previously promised that there will be a second season to the hit show, which tells the story of impoverished people playing a deadly game to win a fortune.

Meanwhile, the report added that Netflix has commented on the possibility of a third season.

"It’s true that we are discussing a wide variety of possibilities for 'Squid Game,' including the production of a Season 3, but nothing has yet been set in stone," they said.
