'Mean Girls: The Musical' releases first trailer fit for Gen Zs
“Mean Girls: The Musical” released its first trailer and it was so fetch!
A musical version of the classic 2004 movie, the film will take its meanness up a notch for today’s generation, with smartphones and TikTok playing a role in the characters’ lives.
The movie follows teenager Cady, who navigates high school cliques, love, rumors, and its consequences after being homeschooled all her life.
“Mean Girls: The Musical” started production in March. It stars Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli'i Cravalho, and Jaquel Spivey as Cady, Regina, Janis, and Damian, respectively.
Tina Fey once again serves as the producer and screenwriter, and reprises her role as the math teacher, Ms. Sharon Norbury. Tim Meadows is also back as Principal Ron Duvall.
“Mean Girls” is now a pop culture classic.
Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, Lacey Chabert, Daniel Franzese, and Rajiv Surendra reprised their roles and recreated some iconic scenes for an ad in early November.
The cast also had a virtual reunion in 2020.
The film was previously adapted into a Broadway musical.
