‘Top Gun,’ ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ return to PH cinemas for limited time in May

“Top Gun” and “Top Gun: Maverick” are returning to Philippine cinemas in celebration of the first film’s 40th anniversary.

On Facebook, Paramount Pictures announced that the two films will return to the big screen for one week only, beginning May 13, exclusively at SM Cinemas.

The 40th anniversary of the action-packed film comes on the heels of the announcement that “Top Gun 3” is already in the works, with Tom Cruise set to reprise his iconic role as fighter pilot Maverick.

In 2022, “Top Gun: Maverick” was released and became the highest-grossing debut in Tom’s 40-year career, earning $134 million (approximately P8.02 billion) on its opening weekend.

In 2025, Tom received an honorary Oscar for his work in the films "Risky Business," two "Top Gun" movies, and the "Mission: Impossible" franchise
