Angie Mead King celebrates Pride Month with before-and-after transition photos
Angie Mead King took to social media to share before-and-after photos of her transition as she celebrated Pride Month.
The race car driver said, "I always thought life was going to be very difficult and that the people who loved me the most would end up leaving me because of who I want to become."
Tagging her partner, the former VJ Joey Mead, and saying she's sure many others feel the same way, Angie also took the opportunity "to show that Joey and I are living proof that things can work out."
"Life after transition has allowed me to live my authentic self and I love every day that comes my way," Angie said as she thanked those who have shared laughter, stories, and memories with her.
In her carousel post, Angie included photos with Joey post-transition.
Angie came out as transgender in July 2016, some five years after marrying Joey.
In March this year, she marked a decade of her "rebirth" with gratitude and encouragement to others experiencing similar struggles.
"If you're experiencing gender or body dysmorphia, please talk to a professional as being heard will help clear your journey. Remember, it's never took late to start," she said.
Globally, June is considered Pride Month where members of the LGBT+ community and their allies celebrate and continue to fight for their rights.
This year, the annual Pride March took place in UP Diliman in Quezon City.
