#TelephoneSad? PLDT outage sparks outrage online

Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) apologized after an outage affected landline services in parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Friday.

In an earlier public advisory posted in the PLDT Home official Facebook page, the company said the downtime, which began at 10 a.m. was caused by a "malfunction in one of its switching facilities in Quezon City."

The telecommunications giant also assured that services for residential and enterprise customers were restored as of 3:05 p.m.

But with the outage taking up a huge chunk of the work day, some PLDT subscribers took to Twitter to express their frustration.

PLDT, for its part, said it was already taking measures to make sure the incident won't be repeated.

"We are now conducting a technical review in order to take corrective measures that will prevent a repeat of this incident. Again, we wish to extend our sincere apologies to our customers and the public. — JST, GMA News
