Aboitiz taps Arup for Laguindingan Airport project

Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc. (AIC), the infrastructure arm of Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., on Tuesday said it has tapped international engineering firm Arup as consultant in the bid to take over the Laguindingan regional airport.

Arup will serve as consultant for technical studies and the master plan of the P42.7-billion unsolicited proposal to take over the Laguindingan gateway.

“AIC has tapped design and engineering firm Arup as consultant for the technical studies and master plan of the Laguindingan proposal,” Aboitiz InfraCapital said in a statement.

Arup is an “independent firm” of designers, planners, engineers, consultants, and technical specialists.

Founded in 1946, the company currently employs over 14,000 individuals in more than 34 countries.

In the same statement, AIC clarified that it did not revise its offer to operate the airport but it submitted additional data to the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

“It is not a revised offer but a response to DOTr’s requests,” AIC chief operating officer Cosette Canilao said.

Submitted in March 2018, the unsolicited proposal entails taking over the operations and maintenance of the Laguindingan Airport. AIC said the gateway needed immediate rehabilitation.

AIC is part of the NAIA Consortium which submitted a P350-billion unsolicited proposal to rehabilitate the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
