Meralco to keep power on in areas unaffected by Tisoy

The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) intends to keep electricity on in areas unaffected by Typhoon Tisoy, the power utility said Monday.

The company is monitoring the situation, saying that electricity supply in unaffected areas will remain uniterrupted.

“Meralco is continuously monitoring typhoon Tisoy and we are anticipating that some areas in our franchise may be affected,” the company said.

“Please note that WE WILL NOT shut off power to any unaffected area.”

The eye of the tropical cyclone was located 195 kilometers east of Juban, Sorsogon, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 150 kilometers per hour (kph) and gustiness of up to 185 kph, according to state weather bureau PAGASA.

Tisoy is expected to make landfall over Catanduanes or Albay on Monday night or early Tuesday. —Jon Viktor Cabuenas/VDS, GMA News
