AirAsia Philippines rolls out P1 fare for local tourism spots, 60% discounts on other deals

AirAsia Philippines on Monday announced its P1 one-way base fare seats and discounts on other travel deals, in efforts to help the tourism industry recover from setbacks brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an advisory, AirAsia said the P1 base fare will be available from Monday, January 11, to Sunday, January 17, 2021.

Guests can choose to travel from Manila, Clark, and Cebu to beach and eco-tourism destinations such as Bohol, Caticlan, and Puerto Princesa from January 11 to March 26, 2021.

AirAsia also announced 60% discounts on other travel deals available on its website.

"AirAsia has always been a strong partner of the government in promoting travel and tourism," said AirAsia Philippines chief executive officer Ricky Isla.

"Aside from this, it is also part of our mission to understand deeply the needs of our guests, so we can give them the best deals to cater for pent up travel demand.  We are optimistic that the PISO Sale along with the health and safety protocols implemented by the LGUs will lead to a revitalized tourism industry in 2021," he added.

AirAsia Philippines resumed its services in June 2020, after nearly three months of suspension due to lockdowns designed to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

The carrier, along with Cebu Pacific and the Philippine Airlines, earlier appealed for the government to provide P8.6 billion in assistance to the airline industry given losses incurred during the period. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
