Pasig City to serve vegetables fresh from Benguet to its frontliners
Pasig City is set to serve vegetables from the province of Benguet to its frontliners battling against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
On Twitter, Mayor Vico Sotto said they received these vegetables from Ang Probinsyano Partylist Rep. Ronnie Ong.

The country's farmers have been suffering from low demand of their crops, resulting to tons and tons of vegetables going to waste.
This is due to the enhanced community quarantine imposed on Luzon in an attempt to combat the rapidly spreading virus.
Sotto said the veggies will be cooked and served by the city's community kitchen, which produces and delivers meals straight to its frontliners.
In another tweet, Sotto expressed pride for the kitchen staff.

Sotto launched the community kitchen in March in an attempt to ease the burdens of the frontliners amid the absence of mass transportation and the temporary closure of businesses.
Earlier, the municipal government of Bocaue, Bulacan bought 13,200 kilos of assorted vegetables from farmers of Bauko in Mountain Province.
The vegetables will be given to around 16,000 senior citizens of Bocaue as part of relief operations.
