Some buses begin using PITX 'landport' on first day of operations

A few buses began picking up passengers at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) along Coastal Road on Saturday, the first day of its operations.

As of around 8 a.m. Saturday, four buses bound for Nasugbu, Batangas have already departed from Gate 7 of PITX, according to a report on Super Radyo dzBB by Manny Vargas.

There were only a few passengers at PITX as of that time.

Some passenger buses arrived empty and the conductors went to the PITX office to inquire about the unloading zone and the system to follow.

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday inaugurated the PITX, which boasts of world-class facilities fit for its distinction as the country’s first “landport."

It is the first integrated and multi-modal terminal in the southwestern part of Metro Manila, serving as a transfer point among provincial buses from Cavite, Batangas, and in-city modes of transportation.

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Tuesday that the PITX will reduce the number of provincial buses plying along EDSA-Taft, Pasay, and Roxas Boulevard.

However, there were still some public utility vehicles such as UV Express using the old terminal near the MIA Road on Saturday.

There were also passenger buses from Cavite using Coastal Road that did not unload passengers at PITX on Saturday.

Management expects that more buses, public utility vehicles and passengers will use PITX in the coming days. —KG, GMA News
