Ateneo officials meet with both parties involved in bullying


The parties involved in the video of a violent incident between Ateneo Junior High School students that went viral on social media already met with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) officials.

 

 

In the official statement released by the office of ADMU President Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin SJ posted the update on the bullying incident that occurred on the 18th of December 2018.

"The Ateneo Junior High School Committee on Discipline has already met with and heard both parties involved," he said, referring to the ongoing administrative investigation on the bullying incident.

"The case shall be decided soonest, and this decision shared with the community," he added.

Earlier, Villarin underscored that the school does not condone the misbehavior.

"We have our codified standards of conduct and all students are made aware of these and their rights and responsibilities," he said.

"The school is not silent on its stand on violence and it will not hesitate to impose the penalty of dismissal or even expulsion in cases of grave misconduct," he added.

The video that went viral on social media showed an Ateneo Junior High school student who appeared to verbally taunt another student inside the bathroom as another one took the video.

After making the student choose whether to kiss his shoes and his private part or be beaten, the student proceeded to beat the other.

Meanwhile, the parents of the student who was punched and kicked by his classmate reported the incident to the police on Wednesday night, December 19, 2018. — BAP, GMA News
