‘Ateneo bully’ in viral video a ‘failed representation’ of taekwondo —Monsour del Rosario

Makati City Representative and taekwondo champion Monsour del Rosario has denounced the bullying of an Ateneo Junior High School student, saying the "bully" is a "failed representation" of the sport.

In a statement posted on his Facebook page on Friday, del Rosario also made strong remarks for the parents of the boy.

"Yes, none of us are perfect — we've all made our mistakes and should not judge people loosely. But to the parents of the bully, let's be very clear here, this is as firm a judgement as you will ever get from me: Your son is a FAILED representation of our beautiful sport."

Del Rosario then slammed the incident, stating that "Every aspect of the viral video was hideous, weak and unacceptable."

He then urged parents of children, especially those whose children are in martial arts, to raise them well.

"RAISE YOUR CHILDREN BETTER. LET'S ALL RAISE OUR CHILDREN TO BE BETTER. LET'S RAISE OUR SONS -- PARTICULARLY THOSE IN THE MARTIAL ARTS -- TO BE GOOD MEN."

The video that went viral on social media showed a student verbally taunting another student inside the restroom as another one took the video.

After making the student choose whether to kiss his shoes and his private part or be beaten, the student proceeded to beat the other.

The parties involved in the violent incident have already met with Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) officials.

Fr. Jose Ramon Villarin SJ., Ateneo De Manila University president, has  underscored that the school does not condone the misbehavior.

Meanwhile, the parents of the student who was punched and kicked by his classmate reported the incident to the police on Wednesday night. —Jamil Santos/KG, GMA News
