NCRPO to recommend that Chinese who threw taho on cop be considered undesirable alien

National Capital Region Police Office chief D‏irector Guillermo Eleazar on Saturday said they will recommend that the Chinese woman who threw a glass of taho on a police officer be considered an undesirable alien.

"We will recommend for her to be considered as undesirable alien," Eleazar said, according to a report on 24 Oras by Katrina Son.

"She has to suffer the consequences ng naging aksiyon niya," Eleazar added.

"The action of Jiale Zhang against P01 William Cristobal shown disrespect to the agent of person in authority assisting in the implementation of the security policy of MRT management and DOTr 'NO FOOD AND DRINKS ALLOWED', No liquids in all forms," the NCRPO chief said in a statement issued Sunday.

"We can't just imagine kung paano at kung gaano kawalang galang. Siyempre kahihiyan ito sa ating uniporme in relation to the MRT Boni Avenue Station incident that happened yesterday when a woman Chinese National intentionally thrown a soya drink to the PNP uniform of the on duty NCRPO personnel while in the performance of duty," he added.

The woman identified as Jiale Zhang, 23, a student residing in Mandaluyong City, threw a cup of 'taho' on Police Officer 1 William Cristobal who stopped her from entering the Metro Rail Transit-Boni Station on Saturday morning.

MRT authorities said Zhang entered the baggage inspection area, but security personnel asked her to consume first the taho in her bag before she would be allowed in. But she refused to do so.

Security personnel called PO1 Cristobal to explain to the student the policy on liquid substances inside the station. In a fit of anger, Zhang splashed the cup of taho at the officer.

Zhang was arrested and is facing charges of direct assault, disobedience to agent of person in authority, and unjust vexation.

She has also apologized for her action. "I'm sorry," said Zhang, who has been staying in the Philippines for seven years and is studying at a fashion school.

Zhang is currently detained at the Mandaluyong Police headquarters.

The Bureau of Immigration on Saturday said it would be looking into possible actions to be taken against Jiale.

"We will be coordinating with the [Department of Transportation] and the [National Capital Region Police Office] for details about the case and will study possible actions against said foreigner," said Immigration spokesperson Dana Sandoval.

MRT passengers have been prohibited from bringing bottled drinks, water, and liquid substances this month as part of security measures following the twin blasts in Jolo.

The Department of Transportation said such liquids could be mixed with other substances to form a liquid bomb.

However, some liquids are permitted on the trains upon validation and approval from security personnel. —KG, GMA News
