Partial LRT2 operations from Cubao to Recto to resume Tuesday, Oct. 8

The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) announced that partial operations from Cubao to Recto and back would resume on Tuesday, October 8 after safety checks and other necessary procedures were completed successfully.

“Thorough safety checks have been completed, and the signaling, telecommunications, power supply systems, tracks and the trains for these stations have been cleared and in normal condition,” LRTA spokesperson Reynaldo Berroya said in a statement.

Operations will begin at 6 a.m. The Cubao station will close at 8:30 p.m. while the Recto station will close at 9.

“We appeal to our passengers to allot an additional hour for their journeys since speed restrictions and a limited number of trains will be fielded to ensure passenger safety and the sufficiency of the power supply coming from the remaining rectifier substations,” the LRTA said.

Point-to-point buses from Masinag, Emerald, and Santolan to Legarda would also begin plying their routes on Tuesday. An additional 40 modernized jeepneys would also ferry passengers from Santolan to Legarda.

Meanwhile, a bus service loop will be offered at the Santolan, Katipunan, Anonas, and Cubao stations.

The modern jeepneys will operate from 5:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. The flat rate from Santolan to Cubao was P15 while Masinag to Legarda would cost P25.

Free rides would also continue to be offered by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Metro Manila Development Authority from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. for passengers traveling through the Santolan to Cubao route.

Berroya said the LRTA was eyeing the resumption of full operations within six to nine months.
