Vice mayor tagged Sandra Cam as mastermind if he got killed, says widow

Charlie Yuson III told his loved ones that if anything were to happen to him, Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office board member Sandra Cam would be the person responsible.

Masked gunmen killed the vice mayor of Batuan, Masbate on Wednesday.

According to Emil Sumangil's report on "QRT", Charlie's widow Lalaine said the victim told her that only Sandra would do him harm.

The victim’s son Charmax won the mayoralty over Sandra's son Marco Martin Cam.

Charlie had been the acting mayor of Batuan after Charmax went into hiding. The mayor is facing charges over illegal possession of explosives.

Sandra has denied the allegations and relayed her condolences to the Yuson family.

"Me and my son had nothing to do with that ambush of ni Vice Mayor and OIC Mayor of our town, Batuan," Sandra said.

"As a mother, I sympathize with the bereaved family [pero] hindi po totoo na politically motivated 'yan. Wait for the investigation to roll, huwag muna sana tayong gumawa ng mga speculation,” she added.

Manila City police have also vowed that there will be no cover-ups in their investigation.

Authorities nabbed four suspects in Yuson’s slay on Thursday. They will be facing charges of murder and possession of illegal firearms. —Julia Mari Ornedo/NB, GMA News
