Tight security measures implemented as 2019 Bar Exams start


Police were highly visible around the University of Santo Tomas, venue of the 2019 Bar Exams, on Sunday as security measures were made tight to ensure peace and order.

 

About 8,245 examinees are expected to take the 2019 Bar Examinations, the most grueling testing in the country, on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2019, at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. The Bar Exams will run for another three Sundays: Nov. 10, 17 and 24. Danny Pata

 

Manila Police District chief Police Brigadier General Bernabe Balba visited UST before dawn, and met Associate Justice Marvic Leonen, among others, as reported by Carlo Mateo of Super Radyo dzBB.

 

 

Examinees trooped to UST before dawn, arriving by bus or private car and cheered on by their relatives, friends and schoolmates, for the first day of the examinations.

 

 

The Bar Exams will also be held on November 10, 17 and 24 at UST.

The roads surrounding University of Santo Tomas, the Bar Exams venue, namely, P. Noval Street, Dapitan Street, A.H. Lacson Avenue and España Boulevard were placed on stop and go traffic situation from 5 a.m. to 6 a.m. and will again be under such situation at 6 p.m. onwards on Sunday.

The same traffic scheme will be implemented on November 10 and 17.

These areas will also be no-parking zones on the dates of the Bar Exams.

The MPD earlier said 600 police officers will be deployed around UST on the dates of the exams for security operations, anti-criminality operations, emergency preparedness and crisis response.

More or less 8,000 examinees are expected to take the Bar Exams this month, the MPD said. —KG, GMA News
