Metro Manila allows 18 to 65-year-olds to go out amid COVID-19 threat

Metro Manila mayors eased the age restriction on persons allowed to go out of their homes amid the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

In a Palace briefing on Monday, MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia explained that the mayors will ease the restriction gradually since the region was still under a general community quarantine (GCQ).

“Ang in-approve po ng ating National Capital Region mayors so far is from 18 to 65 years old,” said Garcia.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced earlier that persons aged 15 to 65 years old were now allowed to be out of their homes as the government sought to revive the economy battered by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roque explained that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF) had made the adjustment.

“Local government units may impose a higher age limit for minors, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective jurisdictions,” the President's spokesman noted. — DVM, GMA News
