No permit needed to set up community pantries in Pasig —Vico Sotto

There is no need to get a permit in order to set up a community pantry in Pasig City, Mayor Vico Sotto said Tuesday.

“Para sa mga nagtatanong, hindi kailangan ng permit. Wala po tayong ‘Permit to Help,’” Sotto said on social media.

[For those asking, a permit is not needed. We don't have a 'Permit to Help.']

He also commended the “individuals who are helping as they can afford.”

“Government has limited resources, so any effort to help others is very welcome,” Sotto said.

Earlier, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said permits are not required for community pantries, but urged organizers to coordinate with local authorities.

The community pantry that started on Maginhawa Street in Quezon City has been replicated in many areas, and more low-income families have found sources for their daily sustenance.
