COVID-19 PANDEMIC

San Juan says 100% of target population already vaccinated with first dose

The San Juan government on Monday said 100% of its target population already received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

According to Ian Cruz's report on GTV's Balitanghali, San Juan's target population is 96,000 out of 130,000 residents.

The local government, meanwhile, said over 30,000 residents in San Juan have completed their COVID-19 vaccination after receiving both doses.

San Juan Mayor Francis Zamora said they are eyeing to fully vaccinate all its target population by August.

The Philippines has so far inoculated 13 million people but only 3.52 received both doses of the vaccines against the severe respiratory disease.

Philippine authorities sought to fully inoculate 58 million people in highly urbanized areas to reach population protection by the end of the year. They also hoped that the mandatory face mask policy would be removed before Christmas. —Consuelo Marquez/KBK, GMA News
