Sara Duterte on ouster plot vs. Alvarez: No comment

Davao City Mayor Inday Sara Duterte was tight-lipped over reports that she has a hand in the rumored plan to replace Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez.

Asked on the issue, the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte said, "No comment."

Rumors circulated over the weekend that several lawmakers are planning to unseat Alvarez and replace him with former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

In a separate interview, Deputy Speaker Gwen Garcia said the reported ouster plot against Alvarez was "briefly touched" in the all-member caucus of the House of Representatives on Monday morning.

Some lawmakers, on the other hand, are mum about the supposed plot.

In an ambush interview, Alvarez's rival and Davao del Norte Representative Antonio Floirendo said he heard about the supposed plot but refused to give additional information.

Majority Leader Rodolfo Fariñas, meanwhile, only laughed about the supposed plan. —KBK, GMA News
