Duterte curses drug war critics amid UN report showing police planting evidence in drug ops, hits Trillanes anew

President Rodrigo Duterte hurled anew expletives against human rights advocates who are against his bloody drug war, justifying the measure with the P5.1 billion drug bust in Marilao, Bulacan on Thursday.

Duterte made the tirades after United Nations human rights chief Michelle Bachelet reported that their probe revealed that 25 anti-drug operations where 45 persons were killed all showed that police "repeatedly recovered guns bearing the same serial numbers from different victims in different locations,” suggesting planting of evidence by police officers.

“Kayong mga human rights [advocates], makinig kayo. P*t*ng*n* kayo, makinig kayo sa akin. Sa Pilipinas, hindi na talaga ito nahinto, transhipment na tayo ng Señalosa,” Duterte said in a taped briefing.

He is apparently referring to Sinaloa cartel based in Mexico and one of the biggest drug cartels in the world.

“Itong sa Señalosa pumapasok, P5.1 billion. Makinig kayo, P5.1 billion ito. This will destroy my country. Nasaan kayo ‘pag namatay ang pulis ko? Policemen died along the way in this journey to fight drugs,” Duterte said.

“Iyan ang pangako ko, kaya even amid the pandemic, the police are working, unmindful of the fact that they can get COVID-19,” he said.

Duterte then lauded Philippine National Police chief Archie Gamboa for the drug buy bust and attacked former senator Antonio Trillanes IV who is also a staunch critic of the drug war that killed more than 7,000 people.

“Kay Archie Gamboa, you have my snappy salute,” Duterte said.

“Ikaw, Trillanes, masaya ka ba sa nangyayari sa buhay ng Pilipino? Puro ka daldal. As a senator, you did nothing but to glorify yourself,” Duterte added.

In response, Trillanes said it is his duty as a member of the opposition to raise the abuses, flaws, and inefficiencies of the administration to improve its services and make it accountable to the people.

“That is democracy. Simple lang, ayusin nila ang serbisyo nila at ‘wag sila mang-abuso ng kapangyarihan. Also, paminsan-minsan magtrabaho naman siya imbes na patulog-tulog lang siya habang nagkandapalpakan na ang mga bata niya,” the former senator said in a press statement.—AOL, GMA News
