Nuezca dismissed from police service, says Sinas

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas announced Monday the dismissal from police service of Police Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, the cop who shot dead his unarmed neighbors in Paniqui, Tarlac in December.

At a press conference, Sinas said Nuezca's dismissal from police service is effective on Monday, January 11.

"The administrative case [against Nuezca] is already resolved. Subject DNCO was charged with two counts of grave misconduct and two counts of conduct unbecoming of a police officer. He is meted the severest administrative penalty of dismissal from the police service effective today," he said.

"The dismissal was already implemented by the regional director of NCRPO (National Capital Region Police Office), Police Brigadier General Vic Danao," Sinas said.

Nuezca will no longer receive any benefits from the PNP, with the exception of any outstanding leaves, according to a report by Mariz Umali on "24 Oras."

Nuezca fatally shot mother and son Sonya and Frank Anthony Gregorio after they had a heated argument over a "boga" explosion and right of way.

The incident was caught on video and went viral over social media, sparking outrage among the public.

Nuezca, who was indicted on two counts of murder, pleaded not guilty during the arraignment and pre-trial conducted on January 7, according to Central Luzon police chief Police Brigadier General Valeriano De Leon.

The next hearing on his case is on February 4.

"Kung ano pong kailangan nila sa amin ipe-present po namin. Hindi kami mag-o-offer ng kung ano pang ebidensiya kasi lahat ng ebidensiya ay na-forward na po namin," said Sinas. — KG/RSJ/BM, GMA News
