Lacson wants Sinas' skipping COVID protocols in Oriental Mindoro probed

Philippine National Police chief General Debold Sinas should be investigated for supposedly skipping COVID-19 health protocols when he visited Oriental Mindoro last week, Senator Panfilo Lacson said Sunday.

In an interview on "Dobol B TV," Lacson said an investigation on Sinas' supposed failure to observe health protocols is most proper as it is already his second infraction, the first being the "mañanita" crowd during his birthday in May last year.

Pressed for comment on Sinas' latest misdemeanor, Lason said the top cop "might be stricken out soon."

Like in baseball, he is already at a disadvantage because after two strikes he has no ball yet, the senator said in Filipino.

The provincial government of Oriental Mindoro on Friday claimed that Sinas skipped on health protocols when he visited the province the day before.

On the same day, Sinas was confirmed to have been infected with the COVID-19.

PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Ildebrandi Usana, however, maintained that Sinas  had undergone swab tests and observed health protocols but still contracted COVID-19.

Nevertheless, Lacson wished Sinas well and hoped that he would recover from the illness as soon as possible.

I hope his case doesn't get severe, I hope it's just mild or he remains asymptomatic. Let's think first about his safety before talking about his violations, Lacson said in Filipino. —LBG, GMA News
