Roque: Duterte to think about VP run in Eleksyon 2022

President Rodrigo Duterte will think about seeking the vice presidency in the May 2022 polls, Malacañang said Tuesday.

Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque made the comment a day after the ruling PDP-Laban, chaired by Duterte, adopted a resolution endorsing the possible 2022 vice presidential bid of the Chief Executive.

“Pag-iisipan po niya. Siyempre na-nominate siya ng kanyang partido kaya pag-iisipan,” Roque said.

(He will think about it, given that his party nominated him for it.)

“The President has said, on one hand, nakapagsilbi na siya sa bayan. On the other hand, iisipin niya  [kung] ito ba ang pinakamabuti para sa bayan,” he added.

(He has been able to serve but he will also think about what is best for the country.)

Roque also brushed aside opposition coalition 1Sambayan’s take that a vice presidential run for Duterte is the joke of the century. 

“How can that be a joke e wala pa ngang desisyon [there’s no decision yet]. Maybe the joke is on them,” Roque said.

Roque earlier said the President will run for vice president in 2022 if he receives a “message from God.” — RSJ, GMA News
