Eleazar apologizes for outburst at cop who killed woman in QC

Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar on Thursday apologized for his outburst of emotion while confronting Hensie Zinampan, the police officer who was caught on video killing Lilibeth Valdez in Quezon City earlier this week.

“Humihingi ako ng dispensa doon sa outburst of my emotion [I apologize for the outburst of my emotion],” he said in an interview on ANC.

Eleazar said that he was just being a "father" to the police organization who supports good policemen and condemns rogue cops. “I'm sorry; I should have been more circumspect on my action,” he added.

He pointed out that “some things” should be avoided and that he and the police organization are far from perfect. The police chief also asked for understanding.

In the video, Eleazar can be seen castigating Zinampan, who shot Valdez in the neck on Monday.

A murder charge and an administrative case for grave misconduct have been filed against Zinampan.

Citing the Internal Affairs Service, Eleazar said the investigation for the administrative case will be finished in three to four weeks. — BM, GMA News
