OCTA: NCR now at moderate risk for COVID-19

The National Capital Region (NCR) is now at moderate risk for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) with an average daily attack rate of 22.34, the OCTA Research group said Monday.

According to OCTA, the 7-day average of new cases in NCR decreased by 28% to 3,120 while the reproduction number in the region also decreased to 0.81 from 0.84.

“Reproduction number 0.81 and ADAR below 25 means NCR now at moderate risk based on covidactnow,” OCTA fellow Dr. Guido David said in a tweet.

The ADAR is the percentage of individuals who turn out positive for COVID-19 per 100,000 population who undergo the test. Meanwhile, a reproduction number of one or higher is an indication of the continuous transmission of the virus.

OCTA said the positivity rate in the region also decreased to 16%.

Meanwhile, OCTA said Malabon, Manila, Navotas, Pasay, Parañaque, Valenzuela, Taguig, and Mandaluyong are now also considered at moderate risk.

The OCTA said the remaining LGUs remain at high risk due to high healthcare utilization rates.
