Worldwide coronavirus cases reach 25.1 million, death toll at 842,633


WASHINGTON - More than 25.1 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 842,633 have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The top five countries in terms of coronavirus cases are as follows:

  • US: 5,977,624 cases and 182,772 deaths
  • Brazil: 3,846,153 cases and 120,262 deaths
  • India: 3,542,733 cases and 63,498 deaths
  • Russia: 985,346 cases and 17,025 deaths
  • Peru: 639,435 cases and 28,607 deaths


The Philippines is 22nd on the list with 217,396 cases and 3,520 deaths. —Reuters
