32 OFWs, 1 dependent from Kuwait return to PH

A total of 32 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and one dependent from Kuwait returned to the Philippines on Monday amid renewed attacks in the Gulf region involving Iran and the United States.

In a statement, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) said the Filipinos arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 aboard a Kuwait Airways flight.

They were welcomed and assisted by personnel from OWWA and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

The returnees also received food, financial and transportation assistance, and temporary accommodation.

OWWA said it would continue to provide returning OFWs with reintegration programs, livelihood assistance, training, and other forms of support.

On Saturday, 79 OFWs from Kuwait and Russia also returned to the Philippines.

Of the 61 OFWs from Kuwait who arrived at NAIA Terminal 1 aboard a Kuwait Airways flight, 60 came from the Sulaibiya Deportation Center, while one voluntarily returned to the Philippines.

Meanwhile, 18 OFWs from Russia arrived at NAIA Terminal 3 aboard an Air China flight.

Also on Saturday, the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait issued a safety advisory urging Filipinos in the country to exercise caution and remain vigilant amid renewed attacks in the Gulf region involving Iran and the United States.

The embassy also advised Filipinos to rely only on official news sources for accurate and reliable information on developments in the conflict.

US forces carried out strikes on Iranian military targets, including logistics hubs, for seven consecutive nights, a week after a ceasefire agreement between Washington and Tehran collapsed.— MCG, GMA News
