Third Filipino in Singapore tests positive for COVID-19


A 34-year-old woman became the third Filipino to test positive for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Singapore, the city-state’s Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Monday.

In its website, the Singapore MOH said the Filipina migrant worker is the 108th confirmed COVID-19 case in the country.

The ministry said she possesses as a Singapore Work Pass and has no recent travel history either to China or to Daegu City and Cheongdo County in South Korea, which are both hotspots of the virus.

The ministry added that the Filipina’s employer also tested positive for the virus and was Singapore’s 101st confirmed COVID-19 case, working in the same household as the 102nd confirmed case.

“She was confirmed to have COVID-19 infection on 2 March morning and is currently warded in an isolation room at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital,” the ministry said of the Filipina.

She was also linked to the cluster of cases at Wizlearn Technologies Pte Ltd.

The first Filipino COVID-19 case in Singapore was confirmed by the Department of Foreign Affairs on February 23. 

The second case, a 41-year-old domestic worker, was confirmed on Saturday.
