3 more Filipinos in Singapore test positive for COVID-19


Three more Filipinos have tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in Singapore, bringing the total number of Filipinos infected in the city-state to six.

On its website, the Singapore Ministry of Health said their Case 178 is a 37-year-old Filipino male who holds a Singapore Work Pass.

The patient was in the Philippines from February 11 to 19 and again from February 23 to March 2 to visit a relative with pneumonia who has already passed away.

He tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and is currently isolated at the Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH).

Related to Case 178 is Case 167, a 35-year-old Filipino woman who holds a Singapore Work Pass.

She was also in the Philippines from February 11 to 17 and is currently admitted at the NTFGH.

The third additional infection is Case 172, a 42-year-old Filipino female who is a Singapore Work Pass holder.

She was confirmed to have COVID-19 on Wednesday and is now isolated at the National Centre for Infectious Diseases.

The first Filipino to test positive for COVID-19 in Singapore was a 41-year-old male identified as case 89. He has already been discharged from the hospital after recovering. 

The second Filipino COVID-19 case in the city-state is a 41-year-old Filipina domestic worker who was employed by a Singaporean citizen who also tested positive for the disease. 

The third Filipino case is Case 108, a 34-year-old Filipino woman who holds a Singapore Work Pass.

Singapore has 82 active COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday noon, according to its health ministry. — Julia Mari Ornedo/BM, GMA News
