In a rescue facility in Cebu, Doc Ferds comes to the aid of a python that has a respiratory illness. Its caretakers say that the snake is often seen coughing. After treating the python, Doc Ferds comes across another snake that has recently laid eggs. But the mother snake has become emaciated and it is feared that only a small percentage of her eggs will survive.

Meanwhile, Doc Nielsen and his team explore the rich biodiversity of Mt. Isarog. Experts call this mountain a herpetological wonder and the team sees different species of snakes including a venomous Philippine pit viper. On their trek, the group encounters another snake, one that looks like a cobra but is actually a non-venomous species. The snake has a wound from an apparent attempt to butcher it, perhaps out of fear. Doc Nielsen treats the animal’s wound and helps the local forest guides know more about the snakes in their area. Mt. Isarog is an important natural park and biodiversity site, and forest guides work very hard to protect the mountain, especially in light of recent forest fires.
