Expanded Twitter alerts tell you if you're mentioned
Micro-blogging service Twitter has upgraded its notification system to notify a user if someone favorited a tweet the user is mentioned in.
A report on tech site The Next Web said this potentially makes users more aware of activities in Twitter aside from their direct connections.
"Previously, users only received notifications when their own tweets were favorited. It appears this update began rolling out as early as June 17th," it said.
Not only that—users can also receive notifications when another user retweets a tweet they tweeted, it said.
The Next Web said the updated service appears to stem from Twitter’s investments in analytical services like Crashlytics.
It also hints at Twitter getting "into Google Alerts territory," the tech site added. —VC, GMA News
