Coconut trees in Bicol get anti-cocolisap injections
Farmers and authorities in Camarines Sur are taking steps to prevent attacks on coconut trees by pests such as the cocolisap or coconut scale insect.
The Philippine Coconut Authority noted more attacks by such pests when the weather gets hot, GMA Bicol reported Wednesday.
For now, the PCA is injecting the trunks of coconut trees with a substance that stops the spread of the cocolisap.
Among the areas where the injections are ongoing are Barangay Cotno and Anib in Sipocot town.
The PCA is also embarking on an information drive to inform farmers of the cocolisap.
"To inform para makilala nila ang cocolisap at malaman nila ang dapat na gawin," said Harley Amaranto, Camarines Sur focal person on cocolisap. — Joel Locsin/TJD, GMA News
